Best of 2016 | New Art Space: You Space & Extra Space

       继杨锋艺术与教育基金会（以下简称“基金会”）被“hi艺术”评选为2016年度最值得关注非营利机构TOP10,基金会创始人杨锋先生被评为2016年度最出彩的十位收藏家之后,基金会旗下的“有空间”和“额外空间”上榜国际知名的艺术媒体Artforum（艺术论坛）2016最佳年度新空间。

       两个空间上榜最佳年度新空间的理由：“藏家将展示及教育“空间”融入自己的工作和生活场所在国内艺术圈里尚属罕见。杨锋艺术与教育基金会旗下的“有空间”和“额外空间”并非仅限于展示创办者的个人收藏（如首展“两个时刻”），而是在意识到教育与艺术推广的重要性之后，希望积极地为珠江三角洲地区的艺术生态打开一个独特的维度。过去一年，杨锋艺术与教育基金会除了持续支持国内艺术机构的展览、出版项目以外，还利用网络平台，面向全球独立策展人征集方案，并为获奖者霍德勒·巴特勒梅奥瑟（Goedele Bartholomeeusen）实现了展览“现实的字节”（Reality Bytes）计划；作为展览的延伸，11月基金会又邀请两位评委鲍栋和刘秀仪 （Venus Lau） 为年轻策展人主持工作坊，从而提供了展览实施、理念建构等诸多议题的讨论平台。”

       此外，同时入选的机构还有外交公寓12号（北京）、Salt Projects（北京）、胶囊画廊（上海）和本来画廊（广州）。

Since the nomination of “2016 Top 10: The Most Watched Non-Profit Art Organizations” and “2016 Top 10: The Most Brilliant Collectors -Frank F. Yang” by hi Art Magazine, You Space and Extra Space of the Frank F. Yang Art and Education Foundation are named the “Best of 2016 | New Art Space” by the internationally renowned art media, Artforum.

The nomination statement of the two spaces for being the Best of 2016 | New Art Space is as follows,

“It is still a rare phenomenon that a collector integrates the “spaces” for art exhibition and education into his work and living environment within the Chinese contemporary art scene. You Space and Extra Space of the Frank F. Yang’s Art and Education Foundation have not only presented the founder’s personal collection (in its inaugural exhibition “Two Moments”), but with realization of the critical urgency and importance of education and promotion, the spaces have proactively pushed to expand the parameters for the art ecology in the Pearl River Delta region. By using online platforms, the foundation called for project proposals from independent curators around the world, and has granted its first project to Goedele Bartholomeeusen to execute the exhibition, “Reality Bytes”. Moreover, as an extension of its exhibition programs, the foundation invited two art critics, Bao Dong and Venus Lau in November, to host a workshop for emerging curators, whereby providing a platform for discussion on subjects such as, exhibition execution, conceptual construct and etc.”

International Residence 12 (Beijing), Salt Projects (Beijing), Capsule Gallery (Shanghai) and bonacon gallery (Guangzhou) are also among the nominees of “Best of 2016”.
